Best RLCD Monitors

On this page I will list all the RLCD monitors that exist on the market. As there is only a few I will also list RLCD tablets and other similar technology too. If I forgot one, you can tell me in the comment.

RLCD Monitors

Sun Vision Display

Sun Vision Display is the RLCD branch of the New Vision Display Company. They used to make RLCD outdoor digital signage. Due to demande from people with eyestrain to have a RLCD monitor they made one. After a few iteration, the current monitor is called the rE Monitor.

I’ve bought it on their Kickstarter campaign, they also made a Indiegogo campaign.

They are also selling it on their official website.

Hisense

Q5

1280 * 800

Unfortunately Hisense cancel the product just after the launch. You can still try to find it online new, but most likely you will need to find a used one. Also, it doesn’t have Google Services on it. You can install it if you root it though, but be careful you may brick it.

Hannspree

HannsNote2

Ports: USB C
Battery: 2 200 mAh
Android 13
Google Play Store: Yes
Price: ??

This tablet looks promising as on the review the screen looks quiet bright with low glare (the two drawbacks of RLCD). Unfortunately this tablet has only been sold in Taiwan despite Hannspree saying that they will launch it soon Europe.

TCL

NXTPAPER S8

Size: 8.88″
Color:
yes
Resolution:
1440 * 1080
DPI:
200

Storage: 128 GB
Refresh rate:
60 Hz
Lighting type:
None
Ports: USB C
Battery: 5 500 mAh
Android 11
Google Play Store: Yes
Price: $750

Caution: This tablet is currently the only RLCD tablet by TCL. All other products from TCL called “NXTPAPER” are regular LCD with low blue light and matte film.

It looks like, like Hisense, this product was kill just before/after the launch on the market. You can still find it used, and on Aliexpress at a pricey price of $750.

Other similar no backlight LCD

Eazeye

Eazeye Naturally backlit LCD

Size: 24″
Color:
yes
Resolution:
1920 * 1080
DPI:
91.79
Refresh rate:
75 Hz
Lighting type:
Backlight (can be turn off)
Ports: 1* HDMI port, 1 VGA port
VESA: kind of (only a row of 75mm spaced holes or 100mm row but not 4* holes like usual)
Price: between $470 and $550

This is a very interesting monitor. It can act as a regular LCD monitor with a backlight but can also work without backlight. Without backlight you need to open the back white reflective panel, which will reflect light in the monitor. You can either place it in front of a window or with use a wide lamp. Unlike most RLCD, the screen is matte, so you don’t have to fight glare.

You could have bought it on their Indiegogo campaign, now you can buy it used. You might also try messaging them to see if they have any left.

This is the latest tech from eazeye. It should ship in June 2024.

This is a transflective LCD, so it can work with or without the backlight.

Here is a picture from Eazeye on how it works:

You can check the article I made about it, with reviews from influencers. I will do my review once I receive it.
